President Trump announced he is appointing William J. Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency and chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, to serve as acting Director of National Intelligence.
Trump cited Pulte’s oversight of more than $10 trillion at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, calling it experience managing “the most sensitive matters in America,” and noted the portfolio had grown substantially over the past 12 months. Pulte will keep his FHFA director and Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac chairman titles during his time as acting DNI.
