Iran and New Zealand drew [final score] on Monday at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, with each team taking a point from its World Cup opener in Group G.
Elijah Just put New Zealand ahead twice, scoring in the 7th minute and again in the 54th. Iran answered both times, with Ramin Rezaeian leveling in the 32nd minute and Mohammad Mohebbi in the 64th.
It is Iran’s seventh World Cup appearance. The team has never advanced beyond the group stage. Group G also includes Belgium and Egypt, who drew 1-1 earlier Monday.
