Seven people are dead after a shooting spree across multiple locations in Muscatine, Iowa on Monday, police say. The suspect, 52-year-old Ryan Willis McFarland of Muscatine, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and authorities believe the killings stemmed from a domestic-related dispute. All victims are believed to be family members of McFarland.

Police received a 911 call around 12:12 p.m. reporting a shooting on the 200 block of Park Avenue, where officers found four people dead from gunshot wounds. McFarland had left the scene before officers arrived and was later found on the Riverfront Trail near a pedestrian bridge, where he shot himself upon being confronted by police and was pronounced dead.

As the investigation continued, police found two additional victims: a man at a residence on Mill Street and a man at a business on Grandview Avenue. Muscatine police are receiving assistance from the Muscatine Fire Department, the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office, the Iowa State Patrol, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
