The Justice Department announced Friday it will add firing squads as a permitted method of federal execution, a first in the department’s history, as the Trump administration moves to accelerate capital punishment. The announcement also restores pentobarbital lethal injections, which the Biden administration had pulled over pain and suffering concerns.
